AI-facilitated learning. Educator-directed.
AI conducts the learning.
You remain in control of the education.
Ms. Sonoma is a K–8 learning platform where AI actively leads a structured learning session while the educator chooses or creates the lesson, reviews and approves the learning, decides who receives it, and interprets what happened.
The Ms. Sonoma hypothesis
Can AI facilitate learning better than humans while empowering educators?
That is the question Ms. Sonoma is built to test. AI may have advantages in patience, repetition, responsiveness, one-to-one attention, pacing, comprehension checks, and documentation. Those capabilities are worth testing. They are not proof that AI already produces better learning outcomes than skilled human educators.
Understanding should drive the session.
Ms. Sonoma actively facilitates Discussion → Teaching → Comprehension → Exercise → Worksheet → Test → Congratulations. The learner can question, struggle, repeat, recover from a misunderstanding, and try again. The purpose is not to move a learner through screens. It is to create repeated opportunities to understand and demonstrate the learning.
Discussion
Guided conversation connects the learner to the lesson.
Teaching
AI presents the approved ideas, vocabulary, and examples.
Comprehension
Checks reveal understanding and the need for support.
Exercise
Conversational practice allows feedback and another attempt.
Worksheet
Structured questions apply the learning.
Test
Independent assessment is separated from guided practice.
Congratulations
The experience closes and the completed session is recorded.
The educator remains the author and authority.
AI facilitates the learner session. It does not decide the curriculum, certify mastery, or replace educator judgment.
Choose or create the learning
Bring an existing lesson or curriculum, or start from a topic and generate a lesson. No pre-existing curriculum is required to generate one.
Review and approve
Edit and approve learning material before assigning it.
Assign and guide
Choose who receives the lesson, use scheduling where appropriate, stay present, and intervene when needed.
Interpret the evidence
Review the session record and structured evidence, then decide what should happen next.
Session evidence
Evidence for the educator. Not automatic conclusions.
A session record can include the transcript, learner responses, test score, session timing, and facilitator notes. Where structured evidence is available, Ms. Sonoma can also distinguish prior knowledge, assistance, independent demonstration, recovery, and delayed retention evidence.
The Test score is a test percentage.
It is shown separately from independent mastery evidence. A score or a completed flow does not by itself prove durable mastery.
Judgment remains human.
Ms. Sonoma records what happened. The educator retains responsibility for interpreting what it means and deciding what comes next.
The principle
AI can take greater responsibility for the work of teaching without taking authority over the education.
The educator retains intent, approval, judgment, values, boundaries, intervention, interpretation, and responsibility.
The method
Calm supports the work.
Calm is a method, not the mission. Deliberate pacing, patience, repetition, focus, and room to recover from misunderstanding support the pursuit of learning.
Built for people responsible for learning.
Ms. Sonoma can support one learner or a small learning environment wherever an adult chooses the material and reviews the evidence.
Homeschool families
Use structured facilitation while retaining curricular authority.
Tutors
Use a consistent session and focus attention on learner needs.
Co-ops and microschools
Coordinate approved learning across small groups.
Enrichment programs
Add guided practice and review to supplemental learning.
